The Prize
Each edition of the Global Teacher Prize Portugal awards a prize of 30,000 euros to the teacher most voted in each year, with the aim of appreciating the profound importance of teachers in the development of our country and each community where they work.
The competition is aimed at all teachers who work in their profession from pre-school to 12th grade (regular education or other)..
The Global Teacher Prize Portugal was also established to share knowledge and bring the topic of “Education” to the agenda, raising awareness and making the entire community responsible for the importance of each one’s contribution to creating new responses to the challenges that arise.
Investing in the education of our children has an impact on all aspects of society, the quality of life of families and helps create a prosperous and sustainable society.
Each teacher, as the leading education actor, has the possibility to make a difference daily, and an immense responsibility comes with it.
In a time full of paradigm shifts, it is necessary to innovate and create new responses in the education of our children.
Development is inevitable, but the way forward must be built with everyone’s contribution. Teachers certainly have a strong and difficult role in discovering new paths that serve current needs.
Portugal wants to highlight its teachers worldwide, but also wishes to reward and highlight, at national level, all teachers who contribute to excellence in education, to innovation and to discover new educational responses.
